In the oldest part of Funchal, in the Old Town, you can find Taberna Ruel. At first, it was called Taberna da Esquina because it was located on the corner of Rua de Santa Maria and Travessa João Caetano. However, the name of the restaurant was changed to Taberna Ruel.

Its dishes are based on local and fresh products, providing incomparable gastronomy. This restaurant also has a wine cellar where you can find a large number of Portuguese wines.
