Avenida Arriaga
Avenida Arriaga is considered a historical and cultural landmark of Funchal’s life. This avenue begins at Largo Dom Manuel I and ends at Rotunda do Infante.
As you walk along this length of cobbled pavement, you can admire the many large trees, flowers and plants, as well as the city’s main monuments and museums.
Various works of art alluding to various moments in the island’s history, like the statue of João Gonçalves Zarco, one of the discoverers of the island, appear as we walk towards the east side of the city, where, at the end of the street, the emblematic Sé Cathedral of Funchal.
