Bento’s Grocery is in one of the oldest streets of Funchal, Rua dos Tanoeiros, and has belonged to the Bento family since 1974.

This establishment has gained worldwide fame due to its spices blend (a recipe that is over 100 years old), which is also sold in South Africa, Venezuela, Austria, and France.

It was badly affected by the 2010 storm, and much of the old furniture had to be replaced with aluminium shelves. Although it may have lost some of its original traits it still maintains its hospitality and environment that always characterized it.
