Stores with Histoy

This hardware store began in 1940 and was later moved, in 1986, to Rua do Castanheiro, where it is currently located.

The establishment presents a wide variety of materials that are exhibited traditionally in wooden structures throughout the three floors of the building. The floors maintain the original structure: wooden beams supported by load-bearing walls of stone masonry, evidence that leads us to believe that its construction dates back to the end of the 19th century, beginning of the 20th century. This typology is representative of the typical warehouses of the port cities in the 19th century and first half of the 20th century, which are becoming rare in downtown Funchal today.
