Flower Festival
Spring is celebrated with the Flower Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors every year. Eye-catching carpets of natural flowers occupy one of the city’s central arteries, attracting the attention of visitors with their beauty and colourful hues.
The Cortejo Alegórico da Flor, the main attraction, brings together dozens of floats decorated with flowers, which run through the streets of Funchal, accompanied by hundreds of colourfully dressed extras, with costumes adorned with exuberant floral species.
There are also other initiatives with the Flower theme, such as the “Wall of Hope”. It is an initiative where children place a flower on a wall in Largo do Colégio, as a call for peace in the world.
