Madeira Film Festival
The Baltazar Dias Municipal Theatre, situated at the centre of Funchal, hosts annually shorts and feature films, including animation, documentary and fiction, from countries such as Hungary, United Kingdom, United States, Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Sweden, Norway and Belgium.
The film festival is complemented by talks, conferences, and workshops, as well as walks in the Laurissilva Forest, which is a World Heritage.
The Madeira Film Festival welcomes some celebrities from the world of cinema and music, thus contributing to the dynamism of the region’s artistic panorama and promoting Madeira as a destination overseas. It stands out for its diversified programme that combines cinema with musical concerts, lectures, workshops and charity fashion shows, in an intimate and unique atmosphere.
It is an important event due to its cultural and environmental aspects and for projecting films about one of the most important “brands” of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the Laurissilva.
