Festas da Sé

At the end of May and beginning of June, the streets of the centre of Funchal are taken over by a festive effervescence. The city comes alive, filled with colours, sounds and flavours that delight visitors who pass through.

At this time of year, the streets of Queimada de Cima, Queimada de Baixo, Rua do Bispo, Rua João Tavira, Rua dos Ferreiros, Rua do Aljube, Travessa do Forno and Largo do Chafariz in Funchal become a real entertainment stage, with outdoor terraces, street entertainment and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

During this celebration, it is possible to taste the typical delicacies of the region, such as bolo do caco, espetada, Madeira wine, poncha among others.

Besides this, visitors may enjoy a diversified musical programme, which brings joy and relaxation to this week of festivities. The celebration thus becomes a unique opportunity to experience Madeira’s culture and traditions.
