Monte Municipal Park
The Monte Park, or Leite Monteiro Park, is the highest municipal park in Portugal, between 543 and 586 metres above sea level.
Construction began in 1894 and the first phase was finished in 1899.
This place is covered with many indigenous and exotic species, as well as some centenary trees. It is characterised by a restful freshness due to the stream that flows through the park.
The footpaths, paved with small basalt pebbles, run through the whole park making it pleasant for walks.
