Santa Catarina Chapel
In this chapel, which was the first religious temple erected in Madeira, vestiges of Manueline architecture can be found, such as the Cross of Christ, the font for holy water in carved stonework and the small bell tower. At the end of the 17th century, the chapel was rebuilt and the porch in Mannerist style was added.
The carved altarpiece of the chancel, in neoclassical style, was built at the end of the 18th century/beginning of the 19th century, when the interior was reformulated.
