Funchal City Hall

This building was built in 1758 by the Conde de Carvalhal family and served as their residence until 1820. In that year, it was given to an English wine exporting company (Blackburns & Company).

In 1868, it was rented to the Funchal City Hall, which in 1883 took full possession of the building. In 1940, it has been the target of deep reformulations, ordered by President Dr Fernão de Ornelas, who gave the building its current aspect.
