Quinta do Imperador Gardens

Quinta Jardins do Imperador was built in one of the most pleasant areas of the city, in the parish of Monte, in the 18th century by James Gordon who created the garden and built a Malakoff tower. The beginning of its construction dates back to 1802, being finished in 1826.

In 1899 the banker Rocha Machado, who in 1921 offered it as a temporary residence to Emperor Charles I of Austria and his family, bought the property.
