Santa Luzia Garden

Jardim de Santa Luzia bears traces of the influence of Madeira’s sugar industry, the typical brick chimney of the old factory having been preserved as well as some machinery of the period.

This space in the centre of Funchal has a café with an esplanade, an amusing children’s playground, contemporary landscape architecture and several garden areas. Here we can identify five different zones: Laurel Forest Garden, Socalcos Garden, Water Garden, Tropical Garden and the Amphitheatre Garden.

Under the National Landscape Architecture Award, it was awarded an honourable mention in the category of outdoor spaces for public use, designed by landscape architect Luís Paulo Ribeiro – TOPIARIS.
